Criminal Case is a new Facebook game from Pretty Simple Games. It's a criminal investigation-themed hidden object game, and it's staying highlighted by Facebook in the "New Games" section of the App Center.
Criminal Case casts players becoming the latest person in the authorities force who's tasked with solving several different brutal crimes. The initial case behaves as a tutorial, using the player being coming to the various components of gameplay one after the other, after which it subsequent cases become increasingly lengthy and complex as the player progresses.
The overall game is separated into several parts, as both versions advance the plot of the case. Hidden object scenes are handled fairly traditionally - players are offered a list of objects to discover, many of which are key clues to the case, and has to see them immediately to score maximum points. Upon completing a scene, a final score (plus time bonus and further bonuses for just about any "hints" remaining) contributes to a cumulative star rating for any stage.
Unlike most hidden object games, however, these stars actually play a role in the overall game as opposed to simply showing your "mastery" a higher level a certain scene. Stars are employed unlock various additional investigation scenes, which change from simple conversations with suspects to puzzles requiring the player to reassemble broken objects, find items hidden in piles of red herrings and decipher codes. Stars are expended upon these tasks, hence the game does occasionally descend into grinding for the reason that player attempts to acquire additional stars to finish all of the objectives.
Alongside these interactive elements, certain items for example the victim's body and various objects located at the scene has to be provided for the lab for analysis, that takes a timescale of live to perform. As it ever was, these real-time delays may very well be bypassed together with the expenditure of hard currency.
For the reason that player progresses through each case, they gain clues concerning who the victim was, the direction they were killed and who the suspect was. After the case, the participant is exhibited several suspects and has to arrest the suitable an individual that fulfils all the criteria. Should they be correct, true is complete and the next one unlocks - though past cases can be revisited without notice to grind for experience and currency.
The sport is primarily a single-player affair, but it does have a few social features. Each hidden object level has a leaderboard, one example is, as well as the player may decide on a "partner" using their company friends to join your research for each scene and still provide hint bonuses. This actually also allows players to display their custom-created avatars, who otherwise never appear commonly amongst players.
Monetization is caused by several sources. Soft currency, which may be earned through normal play or purchased, may be used to acquire customization items for your player avatar, however the most these include level-locked. Hard currency, meanwhile, can be used to bypass wait times, purchase premium items to get energy-restoring items. Yes, criminal case cheats incorporates a power system, placing firm wall while watching player eventually when they never pay or wait. Energy is fully restored upon leveling up and in smaller quantities upon completing tasks which require stars to complete. The pace of leveling is too slow at the start of the sport, however, meaning you will hit a paywall by halfway over the second case, spoiling the otherwise good pace of your game's story somewhat. This is a shame, as the game is otherwise excellent; it's unfortunate to discover a player's enjoyment spoiled from the particularly heavy-handed implementation with this increasingly-outdated monetization mechanic seen here.
